Costa Rica Adventure with Café Imports
Origin trips are a common dream for coffee roasters. A chance to visit the place where the magic begins; to meet the people that work the land; see the harvest and processing; connect the dots from beginning to end. After over ten years in business, I'm finally going to do one of these trips.
I have been encouraged to go on a trip to Costa Rica organized, in part, by Café Imports, the primary supplier of our green coffee. We'll be travelling into the Tarrazú region, stopping at a few plantations, micromills and washing stations and paying a visit to iCAFE (Instituto del Café de Costa Rica).
Rose N Crantz Roasting Co. has always been a support of literacy and learning. Your first clue would be the company name and the name of our primary blends: A Tale of Two Beans, Taming of the Brew, and Ghosts of Christmas. We've always tried to promote and support literacy and education in any way we can.
This blog is a first foray into the realm of putting pen to paper (so to speak) and telling a story about coffee. I don't expect to be able to do too many of these trips, but I hope that future series will include education (brewing tips, gear reviews), experiences (tastings, events) and news (local, regional and global coffee news).
This space is experimental and will evolve, so please reach out if you have content requests or suggestions.
Thanks for reading!
